Problematic of the right to food and food security of households living in the city Kisangani / DRC

Abstract:
Food security is more of a political concept than a legal concept, as it requires respect, protection and application of the right to food. The objective of this study is to evaluate the problematic of the right to food for households in the city of Kisangani during the first quarter of 2019. The method of analyzing multivariate statistical data by stepwise logistic regression descendants is used to identify the determinants most associated with the non-enjoyment of the right to food for households in Kisangani.
The most important results are: 80.0% of households have difficult access to choice foods and the independent variables most associated with the non-enjoyment of the right to food for households in Kisangani are: Paid jobs: ORadjusted: 5.361; CI95% [2.822 - 10.187]; p = 0.000; Knowledge of food quality: ORadjusted: 3.651; CI95% [2.078 - 6.067]; p = 0.000 and Easy accessibility to food of choice: ORadjusted: 2.017; CI95%[1.053 - 3.864]; p = 0.034.
In conclusion, households of Kisangani live in chronic food insecurity caused by insufficient paid jobs, easy access to foods of choice and knowledge of food quality.
