Training High-Quality Legal Professionals in the New Era: Practices and Solutions for Vietnam

Abstract:
The cultivation of high-quality legal professionals is fundamental to strengthening the rule of law, enhancing governance, and supporting socio-economic development in Vietnam. In the context of the new era, characterized by globalization, digital transformation, and increasingly complex legal challenges, traditional models of legal education are insufficient. This study critically examines the current landscape of legal human resource development in Vietnam, highlighting existing strengths and persistent gaps in quality, accessibility, and alignment with international standards. Drawing on comparative analyses of advanced legal education systems globally, the research identifies best practices in curriculum innovation, experiential learning, technology integration, and continuous professional development. The study also underscores the roles of government policy, academic institutions, and professional bodies in shaping the legal workforce. Based on these findings, the paper proposes practical strategies for Vietnam, including enhanced collaboration between universities and legal practice, specialized training programs, the reinforcement of ethical and professional standards, and the promotion of lifelong learning. By implementing these measures, Vietnam can cultivate a cadre of competent, adaptable, and ethically grounded legal professionals capable of addressing domestic needs and engaging effectively in regional and international legal frameworks. The study offers actionable insights for policymakers, educators, and legal institutions committed to building a robust, high-quality legal workforce in the 21st century.
