Abstract:
The domestic donkey (Equus asinus) originated from the African wild ass (Equus africanus). Donkeys are resilient domestic animals that do not have particularly specific requirements for housing. It should be emphasized immediately that a tethering system in the stable is absolutely not applied. Donkeys must be kept freely, with enough space for lying down and moving around. The primary role of the housing facility is to provide donkeys with shelter from adverse weather conditions, especially rain and intense solar radiation. The housing space must be sufficiently large so as not to interfere with the unimpeded consumption of food or cause overly close contact between the animals.
