Predicted Stability of Z=120 Systems

Abstract:
Single-particle energies of Z=120 nuclei are calculated to determine their decay properties. The Rost interaction is used as the basis for these calculations. A = 292 – 305 systems have predicted stability in the ps – ms range. The most stable isotope occurs at A = 298, and it has an alpha decay half-life of 77.5 ms. These model results are consistent with the observed properties of Z = 110 – 118 nuclei and calculations for Z=119 systems.
