Abstract:
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a growing global health threat, making infections harder to treat and increasing mortality. Artificial intelligence (AI) offers powerful tools to accelerate antibiotic discovery, improve rapid diagnostics, and predict resistance patterns through analysis of large chemical and genomic datasets. Despite its promise, AI raises ethical concerns related to data privacy, bias, and transparency, requiring strong governance and interdisciplinary oversight. By integrating responsible AI practices with microbiology and public-health research, AI can support the development of effective and ethical solutions to combat AMR.
