Impact of Strengthened Curriculum on Senior High School Students at Young Achievers’ School of Caloocan

This study examined the perceived impact of the strengthened curriculum on the academic performance of Senior High School students at Young Achievers School of Caloocan. The study aimed to show how students perceive the effects of the strengthened curriculum on their academic performance, learning experiences, and motivation to study. It also found whether there was a significant difference in students' perceptions when they were grouped according to their academic strand. The study used quantitative research design. Data was collected through a researcher-made survey questionnaire distributed through Google Forms. The respondents were 30 Grade 12 students from the ABM, STEM, HUMSS, ICT, and HE strands who were selected using purposive sampling. The collected data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, weighted mean, standard deviation, and one-way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) The findings showed that students perceived the strengthened curriculum as often affecting their academic performance, with an overall weighted mean of 4.17. They also reported that the curriculum increased the difficulty of subjects and affected their motivation to study. At the same time, students believed that the curriculum helped improve their knowledge and skills. They rated their teachers highly for explaining lessons clearly and providing effective learning activities.

However, students gave the lowest rating to the curriculum's preparation for college and future employment, showing that this area still needs improvement. The results also showed only slight differences in the perceptions of students from different strands. The ANOVA result showed no significant difference in the perceived impact of the strengthened curriculum when respondents were grouped according to strand. The study concluded that the strengthened curriculum supports students' learning and skill development but also brings greater academic challenges. The findings may help students, teachers, parents, and school administrators improve curriculum implementation and provide better academic support for Senior High School students.
