People and the Environment: The Dialectic of the Body, Freedom - The Inevitability and Foundation of Ecological Ethics
Author(s): Nguyen Anh Quoc
Abstract:
This study seeks to clarify the complex relationship between humans and the environment amid the global ecological crisis, thereby offering new perspectives for environmental ethics and philosophy. It aims to demonstrate that the human body does not happen by itself but is a crossroads of ecological cycles, where every change in nature leaves its mark on human life and dignity. The methodology of this study is based on an interdisciplinary approach that combines critical philosophy, biology, ecology, and social sciences. The qualitative method is applied through analysis–synthesis–induction and, at the same time, uses a dialectical approach to reverse familiar opposing pairs, such as free–inevitable, subject–object, and closed–open, to show the interdependence and bilateral creativity between humans and nature. The results of the study indicate that treating the environment as an object of exploitation is the root cause of the crisis, while treating the environment as a topic of dialogue lays the foundations for ecological justice, intergenerational responsibility, and sustainable development. In this way, the human body becomes an existential bridge, and environmental ethics is a prerequisite for life. The study concludes that our future depends on our ability to re-establish a relationship with nature based on truth, creativity, and freedom, which go hand in hand with responsibility. The environment is not only a condition for survival, but also a companion and co-creator with humans in the journey towards a new ecological and humanistic order.
