Abstract:
In the context of Vietnam’s growing integration into the global economy, community-based tourism (CBT) has become an important strategy for promoting sustainable development, particularly among the Khmer ethnic minority in the Mekong Delta. This study applies a qualitative research method based on synthesis and analysis of secondary data sources, including academic literature, policy documents, and statistical reports related to ethnic communities and tourism development. The research contributes to both theory and practice by identifying key factors that influence the effectiveness of community-based tourism within Khmer communities. The findings reveal that community-based tourism not only enhances local livelihoods and preserves cultural identity but also strengthens community cohesion and supports environmental sustainability. The paper further proposes practical solutions focusing on human resource development, equitable benefit-sharing mechanisms, and the integration of Khmer cultural heritage into tourism products. By emphasizing local participation and intersectoral collaboration, this study provides meaningful insights for policymakers and local authorities in promoting inclusive and sustainable tourism development in the Mekong Delta.
