Developing Green Tourism Toward Sustainable Growth in Vietnam

Vietnam’s tourism sector has expanded rapidly, contributing around 6.4% of GDP. As such growth creates both economic opportunities and environmental pressures, a shift toward green tourism is imperative. Green tourism defined as tourism that rationally exploits natural resources with minimal negative impact aims to harmonize ecological protection with socio-economic development. This paper provides a comprehensive examination of green tourism in Vietnam. First, it presents a theoretical overview of sustainable tourism and the concept of green tourism, emphasizing the “triple bottom line” of people, planet, and profit.
