Impacts of Parental Guidance in Academic Performance of Grade12 HUMSS and Gas Stand in ST. Theresa’s School of Novaliches

Abstract:

Parental Guidance is very important part of our lives, especially nowadays that the number of children who are involved in crime are increasing.

Parental Guidance in the child’s academic performance has been proclaimed for yea as being very important predictor of student’s achievement, it also consistently found to be positively associated with child’s academic performance.

The study employed descriptive method of research. This tried to describe the perceptions of the Senior High school Students of St. Theresa’s School of Novaliches with a total population of 162 students the Slovenes formula was used to calculate the needed respondents to represent the whole population got 115 populations as of applying the said formula was used to calculate the respondents needed to respondents the whole population, applying the formula, we’ve got 115 respondents.

After the data gathering processes, it was revealed that most students were female and 18 years of age. It was found that Parental Guidance towards their academic performance has a positive impact. Children whose parents are much more involved to their academic performance was found to be more active in school rather than children whose parents are uninvolved to their academic performance.

We recommend that schools should find more ways to get the attention of parents and also to have parental Counseling Program, that will teach the parents of good parenting styles and to avoid the numbers of treats and punishments to their child, lastly to make them realize the importance of their children lives.
