Evolution of Women Empowerment as an International Development Discourse

Abstract:
Women constitute half of the world's population, but they have been frequently experiencing discrimination and intolerance for a long period. Her role as a social promoter is misjudged, she is forced to endure the brunt of hardship and embarrassment in their whole life. The Millennium Development Goals recognized gender equality and women empowerment as two key components for improving the well-being of all people and conclusively the development of humanity. The present paper seeks to explore the evolution of women empowerment in the context of its emergence as a central theme in international development discourse.
