Abstract:

Leg muscle strength of athletes is very necessary for the success of water polo sports, leg muscle strength can be trained with weight training in water. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of weight training in water on the leg muscle strength of Jambi water polo athletes. This research method is an experimental study with the design used is One Group Pretest Posttest Design. The instrument in this study used a leg dynamometer test with the aim of measuring muscle strength. The sampling technique in the study used population or total sampling, the sample used was all female and male water polo athletes in Jambi totaling 24 athletes. The data analysis technique used the t-test formula. The results showed that there was an effect of weight training in water on the leg muscle strength of Jambi water polo athletes, with normal normality test results, homogeneous homogeneity tests and significant hypothesis tests for the real level α = 0.05 with degrees of freedom 23 obtained t count (10.76869)> t table (1.7139).
