Knowledge of Nursing Students Regarding Hypertension: A Cross-Sectional Survey

Abstract:

Hypertension is a silent killer affecting millions of people. It imposes risk of various diseases affecting the body system. The non-compliance with the treatment leads patients to inevitable complications. The nurses are the healthcare workers always with the patient should be knowledgeable to manage safely.

Descriptive research design was utilized under cross-sectional survey. The data was collected by questionnaire to evaluate the nursing student’s knowledge. A number of 105 nursing students represent the total sample of the study. They were selected using purposive sampling technique. Once the data were collected, it was analyzed with statistical treatment using SPSS version 29.0.

Main findings revealed that almost all the nursing students were knowledgeable on the normal blood pressure. The majority of the nursing students have good knowledge regarding hypertension. The level of education is a factor in determining the level of knowledge regarding hypertension.
