Abstract:
This qualitative phenomenological study aims to explore the lived experiences of mothers and shaping their Grade 1 children's behavioral development. Using Colaizzi's Descriptive Phenomenological Method and guided by Husserlian principles, the researchers conducted in-depth interviews with ten (10) mothers whose children were enrolled in Grade 1. Through thematic analysis of the transcribed narratives, seven major themes emerged: (1) Nurturing Through Values and Emotional Presence, (2) Behavioral Guidance as a Daily Commitment, (3) Gentle Discipline and Responsive Strategies, (4) Consistency and Parental Fatigue, (5) Support Systems and Shared Responsibility, (6) Influence of Personal Upbringing, and (7) Openness to Learning and Shared Wisdom. These things represent the complexities and emotional labor of mothers as they balance empathy, boundaries, tradition, and modern parenting approaches. The findings emphasize that maternal guidance is both an intentional and evolving process, shaped by personal experiences, support systems, and daily reflections. The study recommends a collaborative approach between families and schools and encourages community-based parenting education initiatives.
