Author(s): Nguyen Xuan Quynh, Nguyen Thi Van Ha
Abstract:
Green credit is a topic of interest to many countries around the world. The green credit model plays an important role in providing the necessary capital to achieve the United Nations' sustainable development goals, especially issues related to the environment and climate. However, in Vietnam, green credit is still quite new. For sustainable development, Vietnam has been implementing a green growth strategy, in which banks play an important role in this strategy with green credit policies. Using qualitative research methods, based on published sources of documents and secondary data from agencies and organizations, the research team analyzed, compared, evaluated and focused on clarifying concepts, classifications, criteria for evaluating green credit development and the current status of green credit development at Vietnamese commercial banks, thereby recommending relevant policy implications to promote green credit development for Vietnamese commercial banks in the coming time.
