Author(s): Sibongile Msimuko

Abstract:

This paper evaluates Business Intelligence's (BI) influence on strategic risk management in Chama's banking industry. Its main goal is to increase knowledge of how BI supports general company performance and risk reduction. Specifically, the study emphasizes four important topics: Measuring the effect of BI on risk management, considering its function in business forecasting and trend analysis, examining its impact on marketing strategies and customer segmentation and exploring its value for business planning and strategy development. Using cross-sectional data gathering techniques—including surveys, interviews, and document analysis—the study takes a quantitative approach with a correlational design. Comprising IT/BI experts, risk managers, senior executives, financial analysts and CEOs, the sample offers a thorough perspective of BI implementation and its results inside the sector.

The results provide insightful analysis of BI's efficacy in reducing risks, increasing forecasting accuracy, strengthening marketing tactics, and facilitating strategic decision-making. This study emphasizes the need of BI in promoting a proactive attitude to risk strategic planning and management. It also emphasizes the need for banks to use BI as a vital tool to negotiate the complexity of the modern financial scene. Financial institutions can better position themselves for success in an increasingly data-driven environment by including technology into their strategy frameworks and risk management.
