Performance Based Pay and Employees Satisfaction of Aqua Rapha Investment Enugu State

Abstract:
Performance-based pay systems played a critical role in enhancing organizational productivity by providing employees with additional compensation beyond their basic salary for exceptional performance. This study investigated the effect of performance-based pay on employee satisfaction at Aqua Rapha Investment, Enugu State. The specific objectives were to ascertain the effect of commission on employee productivity and determine the effect of bonuses on employee engagement, A cross-sectional survey research design was employed, and questionnaire was used as the primary instrument for data collection. The study targeted a population of 688 staff members of Aqua Rapha Investment, and the hypotheses tested using Z-test statistical methods. The findings revealed that commission-based pay had a strong positive correlation with employee productivity and bonuses moderately improved employee engagement by fostering feelings of appreciation and motivating additional effort. Based on these findings, the study recommended that management should design and implement comprehensive bonus programmes, conduct regular salary reviews, establish commission structures, and explore profit-sharing plans. These measures were identified as essential for improving employee productivity, commitment, motivation, and reducing turnover rate.
