Abstract:
Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) is a seasonal respiratory pathogen that affects individuals of all ages, particularly those with underlying health conditions. This Mini Review provides an overview of HMPV, including its clinical features, transmission, diagnosis, treatment, and epidemiology. We discuss the current state of knowledge on HMPV, including its discovery, classification, and genetic characteristics. We also examine the clinical manifestations of HMPV infection, its transmission dynamics, and the diagnostic approaches and treatment options available. Finally, we highlight the importance of enhanced surveillance, improved diagnostic capabilities, effective antiviral therapy, and vaccine development in reducing the burden of HMPV infections. By boosting public awareness and education, we can reduce the burden of HMPV infections and improve public health outcomes.
