Factors Affecting Employee Performance in an Organization: A Survey in Vietnam
Author(s): Tran Thi Huyen Trang
Abstract:
In today’s business landscape, marked by significant job losses due to layoffs and restructuring, organizations must prioritize retaining top-performing employees by addressing declining job satisfaction and motivation. Motivated and satisfied employees are more committed to achieving organizational goals, but this commitment must be reciprocated by the organization through a focus on employee objectives. Human Resources plays a critical role in aligning employee aspirations with organizational goals, which can be accomplished by fostering an engaging work environment that supports growth and development. While individual needs may vary, HR should identify common areas where employee and organizational interests intersect. Beyond reducing turnover, addressing job dissatisfaction is essential to mitigating other challenges, such as absenteeism, poor performance, low morale, and weak teamwork, all of which can undermine an organization’s competitive edge. Therefore, HR must cultivate a supportive organizational culture that adapts to evolving employee needs and drives collective success.
