Abstract:
In this research, we fabricated a dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC) with red rose petal (Rosa Damascena Mill) extract as a sensitizer. The fabrication of Dye-sensitized Solar Cells (DSSC) can be carried out using the Sol-gel method. The dye-sensitizer used in this research is red rose extract. The mass of the red rose extract was varied at 0; 5; 10; 20; and 30 grams, while the types of glass used were ITO glass and LCD glass. The properties of the working electrodes were characterized using UV-Vis Spectrometer. Additionally, the performance of DSSC was evaluated for efficiency using open circuit voltage (Voc) and short circuit current (Isc) measurements with a digital multimeter. The research results showed that DSSC with a mass concentration of 10 grams exhibited the most optimal efficiency of 3.887 x 10-12 %, based on UV-Vis testing with a maximum wavelength of 540.9 nm, band-gap energy measurements of the dye indicating an energy of 2.941 eV and a TiO2 band-gap of 5.181 eV. The result of this research demonstrating that red rose extract has potential as a dye-sensitizer for DSSC.
