Abstract:

Preventive maintenance and optimization of resources cannot be over-emphasized in a world like ours today. At a time where every situation, equipment and resource generally cannot afford to be wasted or underutilized as a result of man’s ignorance, incompetence or naivety, a merger between information technology, mathematical models and engineering becomes a sustainable method of living. The aim of this review is to buttress the importance of using mathematical models in information technology and engineering for preventive maintenance and premium optimization. There are structures and systems today that have been abandoned, many that have collapsed and caused fatalities, a lot more are at the verge of falling, disasters waiting to happen, these impacts are especially pronounced in developing countries and densely populated cities and also in developed countries as a result of natural disasters claiming lives and properties. Unfortunately, such dates have not been communicated to man as we cannot foresee with our mere eyes eventualities that can be deciphered by the combination of mathematical models, information technology and engineering. This review seeks to explore the interconnections between the various concepts and how productivity has increased as a result of the merger as well as the challenges in various areas of our society. This article is a review work yet totally new as it highlights the merger of these three concepts concurrently; Mathematical models, Information technology and Engineering for maximum optimization and preventive maintenance. This concept, if totally operationalized will to a large extent prevent the collapse of structures and systems, help foresee damages and implement maintenance practice and in turn maximize productivity of resources and situation.
