Abstract:
The ability to utilize the virtual world in construction provides the necessary means to build three-dimensional within a computer simulation before the construction of the actual building. This allows for more efficient, better-designed structures that limit waste of resources, optimize energy usage, and promote passive design strategies. The goal of this study is to investigate the current state in which BIM operates and functions concerning the approaches to convert “residential affordable housing” to “Green Affordable Housing” by lowering the lifetime cost of units and improving the quality with a focus on energy saving through the lens of implementation and construction details using BIM. Methods, which are used to reduce energy consumption in residential low-cost buildings. The following statements list the objectives of the study: 1) To analyze the current trends and future developments with BIM within the construction industry; 2) To assess how BIM is being used as a mechanism for energy saving in low-cost housing; 3) To determine which factors related to residents’ thermal usage have affection on energy consumption in low-cost housings; 4) To reach a common method for considering both building thermal behavior and residents’ thermal usage during the process of energy conservation.
